M.S. in Cyber Security Engineering

impact

The Master of Science in Cyber Security Engineering launched Spring 2016 both online and in person on campus at University of San Diego and today more than 200 alumni exist.

This part-time master’s degree program provides essential knowledge and skills training for information security practitioners (public or private) who work to protect the safety and prosperity of companies, communities and the nation. The program emphasizes a mission-centric focus while engaging students in academically rigorous training on the engineering aspects of software and hardware security.

The master’s degree incorporates an integrated approach to cybersecurity education developed in collaboration with industry, military, intelligence community and government stakeholders to deliver specific, in-demand knowledge and skill sets and helps graduates develop an in-depth focus on the most critical issues and threats being confronted by cybersecurity professionals today.

Students learn about digital and network forensics, the technical considerations for incident response and continuity planning.

The global epidemic of cybercrime has triggered a worldwide effort to beef up cybersecurity at organizations across all industries and cybersecurity professionals are in demand more than ever before.

Will you join in this effort by donating toward student scholarships?

Students and Alumni have shared:

Lynn H. Hoffman said she gained “a wealth of information” not only from the professors and the cutting-edge curriculum, but also from interacting with fellow students using USD’s robust online educational portal. Earning her master’s degree in cybersecurity at the University of San Diego set Lynn H. Hoffman on a course to start her own San Diego-based cybersecurity company — Cibernetika.

The MS-CSOL program at USD provided an advanced, comprehensive framework for all aspects of cybersecurity. This program has benefited me in my current career as well as set me up for success in future cybersecurity endeavors. This is a very good foundation class for individuals that want to move from individual contributors to a management roles.

I love that each course is very focused and that we only take one class at a time, for seven weeks, so that we can really concentrate on that one topic and gain a strong foundational knowledge. Also, the professors do an awesome job with helping us to navigate the online discussions and the general assignments are so applicable and useful.

Thank you from the Program Director
