Katrina has used her strategic thinking, curiosity and vision to advance social innovation and social change in the public and private sector for more than 15 years. Her formal training is in urban and regional planning (MURP) with a focus on sustainable development.
She has also trained in participatory facilitation and group process for social change, permaculture and regenerative agriculture, natural foresight, and systemic design. Katrina co-founded and led Picture Impact, a feminist design and evaluation consultancy facilitating people-centered change in international development for nearly a decade.
Prior to this she co-founded be Waste Wise, a platform to democratize access to expertise addressing the global waste crisis. Katrina is a skilled qualitative researcher and applies her skills in listening deeply and seeing connections to create understanding around the context for change at multiple levels of the socio-ecological system. Katrina values a participatory and inclusive approach and finds joy in the spark of human agency found through facilitation, training and the creative process. Exploring context, making connections, generating and shaping ideas, and making information beautifully visual are all aspects of the design process she enjoys.
