Why did you choose the LDT program?

I’ve always been passionate about empowering others through training and development. My goal is to support learners around the world by designing engaging, impactful programs that foster growth and confidence. The Learning Design and Technology (LDT) program aligned perfectly with my career aspirations, and the University of San Diego’s flexible online format allowed me to pursue my studies while working full-time, making it the ideal choice for my professional journey.

How did the LDT program help you achieve your career goals?

Just a few months into the LDT program, I was promoted, a direct reflection of the confidence and skills I gained. The program offered structured learning, hands-on projects to apply new techniques, and unwavering support from both professors and fellow students. The LDT community truly believed in my success, and because of that, I succeeded.

What advice would you share with prospective LDT applicants?

The greatest investment you’ll ever make is in yourself. Prioritize your growth, stay curious, and commit to learning something new every day. Embrace new connections, stay open to fresh perspectives, and remember, progress matters more than perfection. And above all, enjoy the journey!

Who was your favorite instructor?

Professor Holly is a standout, an internationally recognized leader in her field. Her deep expertise, thoughtful approach to instructional design, and unwavering support for every student left a lasting impression on me. She created an environment that was not only enriching but also deeply inspiring, making it one of the most memorable and transformative experiences of my academic journey. After graduating, I was honored to be invited to a leadership course interview led by Professor Holly Shiflett, where I had the opportunity to share my journey of becoming a leader in the field. It was a full-circle moment that reflected how far I’d come. I’m deeply grateful to have been part of the LDT program, and proud to call myself a Torero!

What were you balancing while participating in the LDT program?

While participating in the LDT program, I was balancing a full-time job, business travel, academic coursework, and personal commitments. Managing work responsibilities during the day and studying in the evenings required strong time management and discipline. My goal was to complete this program and still have a work-school-life balance. The more I learned, the easier it got. This experience taught me how to prioritize, stay organized, and remain focused on my goals.

How did you stay motivated throughout the program in the face of competing priorities in your life?

There were times when I was not sure how to complete an assignment. If needed, I asked for help, guidance and support from professors and students. One powerful reminder that kept me going was remembering who I am, a first-generation Polish-American who came to the U.S. alone with $50 in my pocket, determined to do whatever it takes to succeed. When I felt exhausted, I gave myself permission to rest. When I struggled to understand, I turned to tools like Google Translate to learn and grow. And now, I’m proud to be the first in my family to earn a Master of Science degree from the University of San Diego. I am limitless. I can achieve anything I set my mind to, and so can you.
