Acting Deputy Chief Brandon Sanchez oversees command operations in the Office of the Chief of Police.
Acting Deputy Chief Brandon Sanchez has over 25 years of experience and has worked in various units including Criminal Intelligence, M.E.R.G.E (Swat), Internal Affairs and Robbery. Prior to joining the San Jose Police Department, Acting Deputy Chief Brandon Sanchez served in the United States Navy. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California Coast University and completed his Master’s Degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego
What motivated you to be a LEPSL ambassador?
My love for the program and the people in the program.
Why did you choose the LEPSL program? What made LEPSL stand out in comparison to other schools/programs?
I wanted a degree that was contemporary to my profession and from a well-respected and recognized university.
What were your concerns about starting a graduate program?
The cost and the time.
How did the LEPSL program help you achieve your career goals?
Every class felt like it was tailored to me and to my current role within my agency. Each class provided me with valuable knowledge and tools to use in my daily function at work.
What advice would you share with prospective LEPSL applicants?
I would suggest that applicants enter the program with a mindset that this program will help them grow, expand their knowledge of current law enforcement issues and build a fantastic network of other law enforcement professionals.
Did you have a favorite instructor?
My favorite instructors were Duane Voss and Brian Goldberg
What were you balancing while participating in the LEPSL program?
I was balancing being a Patrol Captain in the busiest division in the city, raising three kids, attending a leadership school and a promotion to Acting Deputy Chief running department operations.
How did you stay motivated throughout the program in the face of competing priorities in your life?
The motivation came in the form of the class curriculum and the students in my class. I fed off their energy and dedication.
