Sgt. Lori Brumit is currently assigned to the Internal Affairs Division. She started with Bexar County in 2006 and worked in Detention until 2012. Transferred to Law Enforcement and worked in the Patrol Division until 2017. Promoted to Detective in 2017. Worked in the Financial Crimes Division and the Public Integrity Unit until 2023. Promoted to Sergeant in 2023 and spent time as a Patrol Supervisor before transferring to Internal Affairs.

What motivated you to be a LEPSL ambassador?

I believe in the LEPSL program and believe that we need better leadership in law enforcement.

Why did you choose the LEPSL program? What made LEPSL stand out in comparison to other schools/programs?

I searched many different schools and by far the LEPSL program stood out! The price was excellent, the curriculum was well organized, and I appreciate the fact that it’s all online.

What were your concerns about starting a graduate program?

My biggest concern was the amount of time spent doing coursework and balancing that between my personal and professional life.

How did the LEPSL program help you achieve your career goals?

I plan to test for Lieutenant in 2025 and I believe that this program will be part of my success! I strive to become a Chief one day within my agency.

What advice would you share with prospective LEPSL applicants?

My advice to a prospective LEPSL applicant is… Do not wait and put this off! Start now! And before you know it, you will have a master’s degree and be a better leader! Do not be afraid of the coursework. The staff with the LEPSL Program is amazing and super understanding of our business, personal and professional lives.

Did you have a favorite instructor?

Dr. Fritsvold has been my favorite instructor so far. Honestly, everyone is extremely knowledgeable!

What were you balancing while participating in the LEPSL program?

I have been balancing my LEPSL course work and navigating through my first year as a supervisor.

How did you stay motivated throughout the program in the face of competing priorities in your life?

I take the assignments one week at a time.
