What motivated you to be a LEPSL ambassador?
I am motivated to become an ambassador for the University of San Diego LEPSL program because I have always valued the importance of mentorship and the positive impact it can have on both personal and professional growth. I have been deeply impressed by the LEPSL program’s commitment to providing fresh and relevant course material that is essential for shaping future leaders in our profession. As someone who believes in the transformative power of education and the importance of continuous learning, I am eager to contribute to the development of the next generation of leaders by sharing my experiences and insights as a mentor.
Why did you choose the LEPSL program? What made LEPSL stand out in comparison to other schools/programs?
I chose the LEPSL program because of the exceptional experience I had with Erik Fritsvold as an instructor during Command College. His expertise and teaching style left a lasting impression on me, and I knew that if he was representative of the LEPSL program, it was the right choice for me. Additionally, the flexibility of the program is invaluable, especially for a busy law enforcement professional like myself. Not having to log in at specific times allows me to balance my demanding career with my educational pursuits seamlessly.
What were your concerns about starting a graduate program?
My concern was having to manage the busy life of a Police Captain, husband and father of a young son with the coursework.
How did the LEPSL program help you achieve your career goals?
It is helping me achieve my career goals because the program’s course material is extremely fresh and relevant to law enforcement today. It literally deals with subjects and issues I deal with daily at work. It is also giving me a chance to improve my resume with a Master’s Degree from a very prestigious and reputable school.
What advice would you share with prospective LEPSL applicants?
I would tell prospective LEPSL students to just do it! The opportunity to obtain such a quality education at such a great price point and flexible curriculum is a no-brainer. I would also strongly suggest to all POST Command College graduates to enroll. The fact that your Command College Credit counts for nearly half of the LEPSL program is amazing!
What was your favorite part of the LEPSL program?
Both the very relevant course topics and the amazing interaction with other students on the discussion boards
What were you balancing while participating in the LEPSL program?
Balancing the busy work life of a Police Captain, being a father to a rambunctious 6-year-old, a dedicated husband, and maintaining physical fitness.
