What kind of job do you have in instructional or learning design?

I create, implement, and evaluate learning experiences ensuring they are well designed and executed.

Why did you choose the LDT program?

I decided on the LDT programs and USD because the program offered a great balance of learning science and instructional design.

How did the LDT program help you achieve your career goals?

My career actually changed while I was just four months into the program! I knew I wanted to shift out of K-12 education and into corporate learning and development and in April of my first year in the program I was able to make that happen.

What advice would you share with prospective LDT applicants?

You will probably have moments of self-doubt, but push through because the goal is so worth the work!

What were you balancing while participating in the LDT program?

Through the program I was working full time, changing careers, managing some family matters, maintaining my own health… It felt like I was doing it all.

What was your favorite part of the LDT program?

My favorite part of the program was having the opportunity to work with fellow learners. It made the entire program feel collaborative; in a virtual setting that can be difficult to achieve.

How did you stay motivated throughout the program in the face of competing priorities in your life?

I’m really good at segmenting my life. Work is work, family is family, and school is school. When I focused on each element on its own I was able to accomplish more. I also gave myself grace and allowed myself to take a beat, but get right back to the task as soon as I felt like I was able to.
