I started my career in Communications with the Los Fresnos Police Department. I worked my first patrol assignment with La Feria Police Department. I took a short break from patrol and returned to Communications with McAllen Police Department. I resumed my patrol experience with the Mission Police Department. After 2.5 years on the road, I was re-assigned to the Administration Bureau as an Administrative Officer. I currently manage the PD grants, oversee online staff training, and serve as an administrator for several agency programs. I am also a mentor for the Mission Police Youth Recruits.
What motivated you to be a LEPSL ambassador?
I’d love to share my experience and inspire other females in law enforcement to persevere in this profession.
Why did you choose the LEPSL program? What made LEPSL stand out in comparison to other schools/programs?
I chose LEPSL specifically because of the focus on real-world policing issues. Other programs focus solely on organizational management as a whole, but the truth is law enforcement requires a tailored approach.
What were your concerns about starting a graduate program?
My main concern was that I had been out of school for a few years and would not keep up with the fast pace.

My main concern was that I had been out of school for a few years and would not keep up with the fast pace.
What advice would you share with prospective LEPSL applicants?
There will never be a right time to pursue your goals. Do it now! Prioritize your education now, so that you may succeed later!
What was your favorite part of the LEPSL program?
My favorite part of the program was the Capstone project. I enjoyed building a visual copy of my legacy.
What were you balancing while participating in the LEPSL program?
When I first started the LEPSL program, I was working at McAllen PD as a dispatcher. Closer to the middle and end of the program, I was going through field training with the Mission Police Department. On top of all that, I experienced my first major depressive episode and nearly quit the program.
How did you stay motivated throughout the program in the face of competing priorities in your life?
I had an amazing support system…my family and faith. I kept telling myself, it will all be worth it one day.
