Course Overview
This course introduces foundational analytic methods used in population health and clinical decision-making. Using a healthcare database, students will learn to query encounter-level data and construct analytic cohorts based on demographics, diagnoses, utilization patterns, and social determinants of health. Students will compute descriptive statistics, perform hypothesis testing, and generate interpretable insights to inform population health improvement and equitable care delivery. Emphasis is placed on analytical reasoning, interpretation of statistical output, and communicating data-driven recommendations in a healthcare context.
