Adolfo Gonzales, PhD
Dr. Adolfo Gonzales was appointed Chief Probation Officer for the County of Los Angeles in 2001. He oversees the largest Probation Department in the nation, with an annual budget of over $1 billion and 5,671 positions. Chief Gonzales’s law enforcement career began in 1978 and he has served as the Assistant Chief of Police for the San Diego Police Department, the Chief of Police for the City of National City, the Chief Investigator for the San Diego District Attorney’s Office and San Diego County’s Chief Probation Officer. Chief Gonzales is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, VA, and the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University. He earned his Doctorate degree in Leadership Science from the University of San Diego in 1996, taught as an adjunct faculty member at several universities throughout San Diego, and lectured to international and national law enforcement officials.
