About Me

I have spent nearly 40 years as a dedicated, passionate and social justice educator for our youth. I have served in numerous roles within school districts, and educational non-profits; as Teacher, Principal, Assistant Superintendent, and Executive Director of the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence; Superintendent of Instruction for the Honorable Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa with the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools. I have also served as Area Superintendent in the San Diego Unified School District, and have extensive training and experience in the area of Race/Human Relations.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from San Francisco State University, my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from United States International University and my doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice, from Loyola Marymount University in 2011. I have focused for many years on Leadership Development by developing and training aspiring leaders because I believe that leadership is a key lever in creating great schools in our underperforming schools. I LOVE cooking dishes like Gumbo and Paella and many other delectable dishes. I also love reading, mentoring and spending time with my family and friends.
