Frank Grgurina, MA

Frank Grgurina retired in December 2016 after 30 years of service in the public safety profession. Frank began his career as an investigator with the California Department of Justice, but worked the majority of his time (23 years) with the Fremont Police Department where he was an officer, detective, FTO, SWAT commander, sergeant, lieutenant, and captain. In 2011, he left Fremont to serve as the Chief of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, the nations largest fully integrated public safety department combining police, fire and EMS services in one organization. During his time as chief, Frank served as the chair of the statewide technology committee for the California Police Chiefs Association.

Frank possesses a Master of Arts in Leadership from St. Mary’s College of California and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento.  Additionally, he is a graduate of the California POST Command College and the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
