Gregory Morgan, MPS
Greg Morgan currently serves as a Captain in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and is the Commanding Officer of LAPD’s North Hollywood Patrol Division. In this capacity, he is responsible for overseeing the uniformed police services for a community of 25 sq. miles and more than 220,000 residents. Prior to this, Captain Morgan worked as an Officer, Detective, Detective Supervisor, Sergeant, and Lieutenant. In his final assignment as a Lieutenant, he was responsible for managing the Department’s specialized crowd control response team, dignitary protection details, and a wide variety of tactical operations. Captain Morgan also has experience supervising a Gang Enforcement unit and later served as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of a Gang Impact Team including Gang Enforcement, Narcotics Enforcement, and Gang Detectives.
Captain Morgan earned his Bachelor’s Degree at The University of Chicago and holds an advanced degree from George Washington University. He has taught for more than a decade at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on leadership, criminology, victimology, and terrorism. He also instructs Critical Incident Management for California’s Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Management Course. Captain Morgan is a proud member of the LEPSL faculty and values the program’s undertaking to identify, develop, and share best practices across the law enforcement community to better the many organizations represented by its students.
