Jannise Baclig, PhD, RN

Program Director, MSN in Nursing Leadership Program

Dr. Jannise T. Baclig, PhD, RN, joined the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science (HSON) as a Clinical Associate Professor in 2021 and currently serves as Director of the Nursing Leadership Program. In these roles, she contributes to the education and development of students across multiple HSON graduate nursing programs.

With more than 20 years of nursing experience, Dr. Baclig brings a breadth of clinical and leadership expertise to her work. Her professional background includes pediatric orthopedics, surgical and rehabilitation bedside nursing, clinical and staff education, and the design and implementation of recruitment, retention, and workforce development initiatives. She is deeply committed to advancing clinical excellence across the clinician life cycle and to supporting nurses as they grow into confident, transformational leaders.

Dr. Baclig’s passion for lifelong learning is evident in her collaborative approach to teaching and leadership. She works closely with academic colleagues, healthcare leaders, and nursing students to promote thoughtful, evidence-based leadership practice and to help cultivate a safer, healthier, and more supportive healthcare environment.

As a first-generation college graduate who immigrated to the United States from the Philippines more than 40 years ago, Dr. Baclig brings a strong sense of purpose to her work. As the only nurse in her family, her career is grounded in a commitment to service, mentorship, and paying it forward within the nursing profession.

Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Baclig enjoys a full and joyful personal life. A self-proclaimed foodie, she loves reading, music, dancing, travel, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. She is also an enthusiastic fan of Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) and has a fondness for the color purple. These passions keep her energized and grounded, bringing balance and joy to all that she does.
