Manuel Rodriguez, MS

Manuel Rodriguez is the retired Police Chief of National City. He has nearly three decades of experience in law enforcement. In his previous role, he oversaw the Police Department’s $21.5 million budget and a staff of one hundred and forty, including eighty-two sworn police officers. Chief Rodriguez joined the National City Police Department as a Captain in 2005 and was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in 2007. Prior to that, he spent nearly 20 years with the San Diego Police Department where he served as a Service Area Lieutenant, a Special Assistant to the Chief of Police and a Sergeant in the Criminal Intelligence Unit. Chief Rodriguez holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from National University and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University. He is also a graduate of LEAD San Diego, the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) at Boston University.
