Nadine began her career as a neonatal nurse in the NICU, holding various roles within the intensive care setting. She then became the Outreach Ambassador at Children’s Hospital in San Diego for 12 years. In this capacity, Nadine had the opportunity to observe and experience neonatal medicine throughout the country. Her interest grew in looking beyond the medical condition at the relationship between clinical medicine and spirituality. She attended and graduated from Leland Kaiser’s Integrative Fellowship Program and co-directed the Integrative Medicine Program at Children’s Hospital, San Diego.

Nadine has had the opportunity of engaging in a variety of consulting projects such as placing executive leadership in high level roles throughout the country, organizing and writing published nursing surveys, and guiding healthcare executives.

With more than 30 years of nursing experience, Nadine has clinical expertise in patient care management across both clinical and academic settings. Her background spans medical/surgical care, neonatal care, cardiac care, ECMO, Critical Air, pediatric care, geriatrics, and nursing education. She has organized, taught, and led numerous training sessions and holds various certifications in Neonatal and Pediatric Medicine. Having a wanderlust for travel, Nadine was offered the opportunity of being invited on one of the first international trips to Riga, Latvia with the International Relief Team (IRT) to support Neonatal Medicine.

She is also an accomplished author, having co-authored First Heal Thyself, published in July 2010. She has delivered numerous workshops and keynote presentations on this topic, with her research and writings published in journals such as The Journal of Perinatology-Neonatology, Mother Baby Journal, Executive Insights, Clinics of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and MedCom, Inc. Additionally, she co-authored a chapter in Comprehensive Neonatal Nursing (3rd and 4th editions) with Jamieson E. Jones, MD, and has served as a reviewer for various clinical texts.

At USD, Nandine’s passion for nursing and commitment to social justice has led USD to implement the Holistic Interview Process for potential students. Whether mentoring students, guiding executives, or exploring new corners of the world, her mission remains the same: to inspire others to lead with compassion, purpose, and excellence.
