Razel Milo, PhD, DNP, MSN, FNP-C, AAOPM-BC, APRN

Dr. Razel Bacuetes Milo is an active NP in the community in practice, research, and education. She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Procedural Medicine. In addition to her professional roles, she is a dedicated volunteer provider for community health events. Her volunteer work includes promoting mental health, conducting health screenings, and providing consultations for the underserved population. She graduated from the University of San Diego (USD) School of Nursing PhD program, the University of Alabama at Birmingham Doctor of Nursing Practice and Master Science FNP programs, a BSN from California State University Sacramento, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from California State University San Marcos.

Dr. Milo has been an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing for seven years. During her tenure at USD, she has served on several committees, including the Cross-Campus Racial Equity Advocates Program, Racial Equity Liaison, and Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award Committee members. Furthermore, she received several awards, including the Philippine Nurses Association of San Diego Educator of the Year 2019, Researcher of the Year 2023, and USD Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award 2023. Dr. Milo’s impactful research, published in peer-reviewed academic journals, has significantly improved health equity. She has presented at local, regional, national, and international conferences to support research and practice around health disparity, social determinants of health, diversity, and inclusion. As a teaching professional in the classroom, she focuses on providing quality instruction, sharing her enthusiasm for science and nursing, and guiding her students as they engage in research and formulate innovative ways to combat health problems. She mentors students on their research and evidence-based practice projects and supports colleagues new to research. Her research and practice among communities of color is intended to improve outcomes for marginalized people and provide evidence-based treatment strategies for the diseases that disproportionately impact them. Her commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and practice is evident in her work as a nurse practitioner, researcher, and professor.
