Why USD?

Students in the MEd online programs have shared that when exchanging information about master’s programs with their colleagues in schools, their peers are often jealous of the level of engagement and the depth of content covered in our program. Our students’ reflections in courses truly reflect deep transformation.

Advice for Future Students?

No matter whether you study online or in person, what truly matters is your commitment to learning how to meet the needs of all students. Becoming a strong teacher is not about where you sit, it is about how deeply you engage and how seriously you take the responsibility of supporting every learner in your future classroom.

This commitment is especially important now, in a time when artificial intelligence is part of our daily lives. AI can be a helpful tool, but it cannot replace the knowledge and judgment you will develop as a teacher. Only you will know your students as whole people, their strengths and challenges, and their cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and you will be the one making decisions that truly matter for their learning. AI cannot do that for you.

USD’s online program offers the same quality, rigor, and care as our on-campus classes. Many students actually find that online learning allows them to participate more comfortably, manage their time better, and build strong relationships through discussion posts and collaborative activities. The learning is every bit as meaningful if you stay engaged and curious.

My advice is: If you are committed to becoming the kind of educator who thinks critically and cares about equity, and wants to support and include all students —including multilingual learners and students with disabilities—then our online program will serve you well. Distance does not limit your ability to learn and grow to your next level as a professional.
