About

Erin Cooke is a Professor of Practice in the University of San Diego’s MS in Applied Data Science and MS in Applied Artificial Intelligence programs. Erin began a career in public health, where the impact of evidence on real people sparked an interest in the narratives hidden in the data, which ultimately led her to pivot into a data science career. She specializes in AI Ethics and is dedicated to exploring the ethical challenges of artificial intelligence, as well as how responsible data practices can be seamlessly integrated into real-world applications. She believes the values of fairness, human dignity, accountability, and transparency should be central to the work of future data scientists and AI professionals. Erin regularly collaborates with campus initiatives through the Center for Digital Civil Society and creates industry workshops to advance ethical and socially grounded uses of AI, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership Studies.
